Annette C. Collier, Owner and Broker of Record of Able Real Estate, located in West Philadelphia, had been instrumental in the selection of Philadelphia as the location for the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) that held its regional convention that took place June 15-19, 2005. The convention brought together real estate industry professionals from an area encompassing West Virginia to Massachusetts. Collier, who was former President of NAREB’s local chapter, the Associated Real Estate Brokers of Philadelphia, is a strong advocate of the Philadelphia area.
“Philadelphia is a wonderful place to live and work,” said Collier. “From its abundance of history to entertainment and fine dining to real estate, our city has it all. NAREB’s regional conference here put Philly on the map in terms of real estate. It definitely brought more investors and home owners to the city.”
Collier has owned and operated Able Real Estate for four years. The agency provides commercial and residential property management, real estate sales and investment consultation services to Philadelphia and its surrounding areas, including Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties. Collier holds the designations of Certified Real Estate Broker (CRB), Graduate Real Estate Institute (GRI), Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR), Certified Real Estate Specialist (CRS), Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES),and Certified Real Estate Manager (CREM). In addition, Collier holds certification from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio and Real Estate management Brokers Institute (REMBI), from University of Nevada Las Vegas. Collier is currently working on ECO-Brooker which is a special real estate designation for Global-Warming and environmental preservastion. She has 18 years of experience in the real estate industry and previously served as a sales agent for Century 21.
Aside from serving as former President of NAREB’s Philadelphia chapter, she has served as the organization’s State Treasurer in the past. She is also a member of the Greater Philadelphia Association of Realtors and has served on the organization’s Grievance Committee for one year. She co-created the Property Owners Association of Chester in order to provide a forum for investors to deal with landlord and property management issues in the city of Chester.
Collier currently serves as a teacher for Temple University’s Pan-African Studies Community Education Program (PASCEP). Her class, “Own Your Own Home,” is designed to teach students the importance of homeownership and the steps involved in the process of owning a home. She has also recently put together a Property Post- Purchase Seminar, which she hopes to offer through the Association of Real Estate Brokers this spring. The seminar is designed to help homeowners avoid foreclosure.
“I find great pleasure in helping people by sharing my knowledge and experience with them,” said Collier. “Owning a home is not just an emotional event, it’s a business investment. People often make the mistake of putting all of their money into fixing their homes without putting money aside in case of problems. I find it very gratifying to give people advice on how to make the most of the equity they have in their homes so that they can enjoy their real estate investment for a very long time.”
Collier holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Lincoln University, and is currently pursuing studies at Youngstown State University for continued property management certification provided by the Real Estate Management Brokers Institute.
She is a wife and mother of two stepchildren. Collier enjoys travel, food, entertainment, reading, art, education, and spending some time with family. Able Real Estate hours of operation are 9:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday, and Saturday and Sunday are by appointment.
